Wedding Venues & Events Planning

Fill the diary 12–18 months ahead

Couples and event organisers shortlist venues 12–18 months ahead, almost entirely from Google searches and Instagram. Wedding-Wire and Hitched help, but the highest-intent enquiries come from 'wedding venue near [town]' on Google Maps — and most venues set their GBP up once and never touch it.

Typical searches we target

  • "wedding venue near me"
  • "barn wedding venue [county]"
  • "intimate wedding venue [city]"
  • "event planner [town]"
  • "corporate event venue [postcode]"

What's usually broken

  • Primary category set to 'Wedding venue' but no secondary categories for corporate / private events
  • Fewer than 30 photos and no recent uploads — couples want hundreds of images per venue
  • Reviews concentrated in summer; winter and autumn appear quiet
  • Enquiry form behind 6 fields, killing conversion vs venues with WhatsApp/quick form
  • Pricing 'on request' with no guide range — couples skip to venues that show indicative figures
  • Brochure-style site that won't load on a phone in 3 seconds

What we fix for wedding & events

Multi-category GBP setup

Primary 'Wedding venue' (or 'Event venue') with secondaries for corporate, private dining, conference and any genuinely-offered formats. Each unlocks a new query set.

Photo & video pipeline

Schedule monthly uploads — ceremony, reception, exterior, seasons, drone if available. Maintain volume year-round so the listing never looks abandoned.

Seasonal review smoothing

Request reviews from couples and event organisers across all seasons, not just post-summer. Winter reviews signal the venue is active year-round.

Quick-quote conversion

WhatsApp click-to-chat plus a 3-field enquiry form on every page. Long forms lose 60% of enquiries vs a tap-to-chat experience.

Pricing transparency

Indicative 'from £X' weekday/weekend pricing on-site filters out tyre-kickers and lifts qualified enquiry rate.

FAQs from wedding & events owners

Should a wedding venue prioritise Google Maps or Wedding Wire / Hitched?

Both — but Google Maps brings higher-intent enquiries with no commission. Hitched/Wedding Wire are discovery channels with paid placements; Google is owned organic. Most venues over-invest in the paid platforms and under-invest in GBP.

How many photos should a wedding venue have on GBP?

100+ minimum, with monthly additions. Couples scroll dozens of photos before contacting. Venues with 30 photos lose to venues with 200.

How do event planners rank in local search?

Service-area GBP setup (no fixed venue), category 'Event planner' or 'Wedding planner', plus separate landing pages per event type and city. Reviews are the primary ranking lever — most planners under-collect.

Can we hide our pricing?

You can — but it costs you enquiries. Showing 'from £X' weekdays and 'from £Y' weekends filters bad-fit enquiries and raises qualified-enquiry rate measurably.

What about Instagram traffic?

Instagram drives discovery; Google closes the booking. We don't manage Instagram, but we make sure the GBP and site convert the traffic Instagram sends.

How far ahead should we be marketing?

Couples book 12–18 months out. Your GBP and site need to be ranking and converting year-round, not just when the venue has open dates.
